FP7UK - all you need to know about FP7 for U.K. Organisations
The Framework Programme (FP) is the European Union's main instrument for funding research and technological development (RTD). FP7 will take over from the current programme (FP6) on 1 January 2007 and will run for seven years.
If you are interested in undertaking internationally collaborative RTD projects, you should consider bidding for support from FP7. This site provides an overview of FP7 with links to more detailed information from Cordis, the EU's R&D information service.

DTI
Grant for Research and Development
Grant for Research and Development provides grants to help
individuals and small and medium-sized businesses research and
develop technologically
innovative products and processes.
The help described here is available in England. (Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have their own initiatives).
Grant for
Research and Development is available through the nine English Regional Development
Agencies
(RDAs). RDAs are responsible for appraising applications and
deciding which projects to support in their region. They also pay
grant claims and monitor the progress of supported projects.

NESTA Grants for Inventors and Creative Artists
NESTA currently runs a number of award programmes, which support everyone from inventors and engineers to filmmakers and musicians. While they share a common aim - to back people of exceptional talent and imagination - they each work differently. To find out about the one (or more) that is right for you, please read through the listing below as well as the detailed programme descriptions that follow.

Research &
development (R&D) tax relief can help fund the technological
advances you need to keep your company competitive, by reducing
your tax bill or providing you with cash. Over 4,500 small and
medium-sized (SME) companies are claiming more than £250m pounds
sterling each year in R&D tax relief from HM Revenue &
Customs (HMRC). This guidance will help you decide if you could
qualify, and tell you what to do next if you think you do.
R&D tax relief, often called R&D tax credits, reduces
your taxable profits and can create or increase taxable losses.
This can mean you pay less corporation tax or can lead to cash
back from the Government via payable R&D tax
credits.
Some SME companies not in profit can surrender their R&D tax losses for cash (in the form of a payable credit) of up to 24p per £1 pound of actual expenditure within specified categories.
